Project McColl Web Development
Alan Thomson is an engineering graduate from Cambridge University and has been developing for the web since 1999.
After graduating in 2005, Alan started his web development career at
CARET in Cambridge.
Since becoming a freelancer, he has produced websites for companies such as
ASICS AYAMi,
Globeleq,
MIRO
and the national digital TV broadcaster, Freesat.

SocialShuffle is website which allows groups of friends to organise dates with other groups of friends. The application is integrated with Facebook and PayPal and includes a sophisticated tool to allow teams to agree a date for a meetup. The website will be launched in early 2012.

Freesat
Freesat is a digital TV service from the BBC and ITV.
Their 32dishes marketing campaign was to include a web-based World Cup quiz which was designed by The House and developed by Alan Thomson.

Call4 is a campaigning tool that allows users to get in touch with their local councillors, MPs and MEPs based on their postcode. The tool uses millions of rows of postcode data to create a personalised experience for each user.

Globeleq is a multi-billion dollar company which invests in and manages energy generation infrastructure in emerging markets.
The company needed a confident, professional and accessible website which fit in with their brand and was easy to manage. Fridge Creative was responsible for design, and Alan Thomson developed the website including its content management system.

Swains International is a national wholesaler of photographic equipment, photo frames and mobile telephones.
I have worked with them on several projects including their cameraphonezone marketing campaign (a website), iSwains (a desktop application written in VB.NET) and their DigitalPhotoSpecialists campaign (a website).

The Next Web
The Next Web needed a button which they could distribute to bloggers which would allow the bloggers' readers to indicate whether they read "The Next Web" blog or not. Every click of the button would be recorded and the total clicks would be dynamically displayed next to the button. The button was built using Flash, JSON and Codeigniter.
